Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing

This morning in my quiet time, I was reading in Colossians, and this passage hit me in a fresh way. In our complicated, fast-paced lifestyles, it's easy for our minds to become so cluttered that the basics get pushed aside. Satan loves to use our packed schedules to tempt us to skew our priorities.

In my logic driven, keep-it-simple kind of brain, these verses manifested into a daily checklist that has helped me to keep the main thing the main thing. I hope it encourages you today.

Colossians 1:9-12:

“For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.”

       Today’s To-Do List:

1. Be filled with the knowledge of God’s will (Read my Bible!)

2. Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord

3. Strive to please Him in all respects

4. Bear fruit in every good work

5. Increase in the knowledge of God

6. Be strengthened with the power of His glorious might

7. Attain steadfastness (Greek: meekness) and patience (Greek: endurance)

8. Joyfully give thanks to the Father

9. Enjoy the promise of your inheritance!
